SAN ANGELO, TX— Construction crews are hard at work on San Angelo’s future pickleball business.
Smashers is currently under construction at 2521 Southwest Boulevard across the street from Cavender’s. Workers have put up walls and a roof on the location and, according to the business owners, the plan is to have work completed by the end of August.
JC and Amber Gallagher, the owners of Smashers, conceived the idea for the pickleball/tennis facility and restaurant after playing in the “Dink for Pink” pickleball tournament at Bentwood Country Club. The two decided that San Angelo needed indoor courts, so they put a business plan together.
In addition to pickleball courts, there will also be tennis courts, a shaded play area for children with room for outdoor games like corn hole, and it will also feature a full bar and restaurant.
“We are both really excited to be able to provide this facility to San Angelo and are praying for great success,” Gallagher said in an email.
A commercial permit was approved for Smashers in November 2024 in the amount of $5,000,00. It will feature seven pickleball courts, two outdoor pickleball courts, one indoor tennis court, a full bar and restaurant, and 10,000 square feet of outdoor play area for children and outdoor games.
