Plateau Brewing Co. to Close After 5 Years

SAN ANGELO, TX — Plateau Brewing Company is closing after five years, citing rising fuel costs, higher prices for key ingredients such as grain, and a broader downturn in the craft beer market and global economy.

In a social media announcement posted Wednesday, the downtown San Angelo brewery said the combination of factors made it increasingly difficult to operate sustainably.

“To celebrate what we built together — a truly special, living part of downtown San Angelo — we’ll be hosting a ‘Drain the Tanks’ party on Friday, May 15th,” the post stated. “Stay tuned for more details.”

The brewery, located at 214 S. Chadbourne St., expressed gratitude to the community.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support this community has shown us along the way. Thank you for being part of our story,” it stated.
