SAN ANGELO, TX – Hoar Construction has opened an office in San Angelo, Texas, formally establishing its West Texas Office and reinforcing its long-standing presence and continued investment in the region. Hoar’s West Texas team will operate out of the newly renovated Technology Tower on Loop 306, a project the company completed in 2025.
Hoar has been active in West Texas since 2010, with projects in markets including San Angelo, Abilene, Midland, Lubbock and surrounding communities. The space will serve as a central hub for Hoar’s regional initiatives as the company continues to grow its portfolio across healthcare, higher education and municipal sectors, while expanding into new markets.
Prior to occupying space at Technology Tower, Hoar completed a full interior renovation of the six-story building, including a new VRF mechanical system, structural steel upgrades and a new electrical backbone. Work also included a full core and shell build-out and tenant finish-out on three floors, creating office space on Levels 2 and 3 and a gym and warehouse on Level 1.
“Our success in this region is rooted in our local partnerships and knowledgeable team of West Texas natives,” said Garrett Wheat, project manager at Hoar. “After 16 years working in the region, it became clear that establishing a permanent presence was a natural next step in a community that continues to benefit from thoughtful, well-executed projects. We’re proud to continue delivering work that creates lasting impact and reflects the deep sense of pride people have in the place they call home.”
Hoar’s West Texas office currently houses 15 employees, many of whom have deep roots and grew up in the surrounding area. In addition to Wheat, Superintendent Cody Mallory and Field Operations Coordinator Mindy Martin will oversee field operations and administration for the West Texas Office.
“West Texas has been an important part of Hoar Construction’s story for more than a decade, and establishing this office reflects both our commitment to the region and our commitment to help our people grow the business in the communities where they live,” said Jeff Light, division vice president at Hoar Construction. “By investing in a more permanent presence and our local team, we’re supporting our team’s efforts to better serve clients, strengthen community partnerships and support the evolving needs of West Texas for years to come.”
Along with the Technology Tower renovation, Hoar’s portfolio of recent projects in West Texas includes a seven-story, 140,000-square-foot bed expansion at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo; an 8,794-square-foot aeronautical flight training facility at Angelo State University in San Angelo; and the 118,000-square-foot Moody Student Recreation and Wellness Center and 10,000-seat Wildcat Football Stadium at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Hoar is also currently underway on several projects in the region, including a renovation at Shannon River Crest Hospital and an upcoming four-story medical office building set to begin construction this summer.
