San Angelo Central High Bobcats Celebrate Homecoming This Week

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Central High School Bobcats are set to take on the Abilene Wylie Bulldogs this Friday in San Angelo Stadium for homecoming.

Last week, the Central Bobcats (2-2) started hot and never let the Belton Tigers (2-2) in the game. Quarterback Tyler Hill went off for 155 yards on the ground and 167 yards through the air. Hill took three scores himself on the ground, one from 20 yards out, 58 yards, and 70 yards. Bobcat running back Jayvion Robinson got in on the action with a 25-yard run and receiver caught a short 2-yard pass from Hill for a touchdown.

Belton was able to find the endzone twice, but the Angry Orange defense kept the Tigers from getting real momentum. Luke Gould and Jacoby Yates snagged two interceptions from Belton’s quarterback Ty Brown.

Central had been caught in a few shootouts this season so far. Up until last week, seven points separated the “points for” and “points against” for the Cats.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for the Bobcats. It came down to the final minutes for Shoemaker to claim victory over the Bobcats, 31-24. Then, a high scoring affair against the El Paso Montwood Rams, which Central won 52-49. Against Abilene Cooper, the game went to overtime after the Bobcats fought their way back into it only to lose 41-38.

The Cats needed to start fast and that’s what happened against Belton. Now, the challenge is to do it again against the Bulldogs.
