Lake View Set to Take on Greenwood Rangers this Friday

SAN ANGELO – The Lake View Chiefs are taking on the Greenwood Rangers this week in San Angelo Stadium.

After traveling to Levelland, the Chiefs got beat by the Lobos, 17-0 and will look to rebound against the Rangers in their pre-district finale. Lake View had a difficult time moving the ball against the Lobos as they only put up 59 yards total offense against Levelland.

The Rangers are 2-3 and most recently lost to the Canyon Eagles who are 5-0 on the season.

This one could be over pretty quick as both the Chiefs and the Rangers have found a lot success on the ground. Ranger running backs Aaron Fikes, Dylan Dominguez, Tylan Booker, and quarterback Ty Flowers have put up the lion’s share of rushing yards with 919 and 11 touchdowns.

Like Lake View, Flowers has a couple of receivers he likes to throw to. Rance Purser and Cade Rowoldt put up 299 yards and 105 yards respectively and have three scores together.

What really sticks out about the Rangers is their defensive numbers. Kyen Purser has four in five games and the Ranger’s defense has a total of 13. They have four interceptions and 12 forced fumbles.

Lake View could have success against Flowers as he has six interceptions this season.

The Chiefs need to shake off the loss to the Lobos and where they had trouble getting things going. They still have two good running backs in Ramirez and Cortez, two receivers in Taylor and Manely, and still have a solid defense that snags interceptions.

More important is getting the guys healthy for district which starts next week when Lake View heads to Andrews for a showdown with the Mustangs.
