#COVER1 Mix Preview: The Pride of Eastland

EASTLAND, TX -- In 2016 James Morton shocked the Texas high school football world in leaving one of the state's most tradition-rich programs in Midland Lee to take over as head football coach of his hometown of Eastland where he was instrumental in leading the Mavericks to a 1982 state championship.

Leading up to the 2019 season Eastland has been solid under Morton finishing 25-12 in three seasons and coming off a trip to the regional semifinals in 2018. This season Mavericks are currently 7-0 heading into Friday's showdown with undefeated powerhouse Wall (7-0). The matchup is likely to decide a District 3-3A Division I Champion.

But with both teams bringing something to the table in this battle of unbeaten, it's Eastland that's carrying plenty of hype especially with junior 4-star quarterback Behren Morton making the decision within the last two weeks to verbally commit to Texas Tech.

In this week's #COVER1 Mix Preview the Mavericks talk about the family business, playing with a future Texas Tech Red Raider, and going toe-to-toe with the Wall Hawks arguably one of the best teams in Texas.

This week's #COVER1 Mix Preview is presented by Lisa Copeland Nationwide Insurance and Heart of Texas Ford in Brady, TX
