WATCH: San Angelo Central Bobcat Signs Off To Play College Football

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The dream of playing college football has now become a reality for former San Angelo Central wide receiver Jalen Leifeste as he signed his national letter of intent to play for Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX.

The announcement came on Tuesday as friends, family, and coaches gathered at San Angelo Stadium to watch Leifeste sign off to play for the NAIA school.

Excitement filled the room with handshakes and hugs as the District 2-6A first-team selection addressed the room. "I want to thank my family and friends for being here for me and I'm blessed to be able to do this," said Leifeste.

Leifeste, who set the Central single-game record for receiving with 265 yards against Odessa Permian, also gave thanks to his coaches.

"Coach Crane was an incredible coach and had an impact on me the whole entire season and all my seasons I was there," said Leifeste. "The same for coach Ward. He taught me everything I know."

Leifeste added that he leaves for Waxahachie on Monday and while he looks to make a splash with the football program he wants to major in business.

Watch as Jalen talks about his journey to playing college football and the people who have helped him along the way.
