Three children suffered minor injuries at approximately 5:25 p.m. this evening after a red Dodge minivan struck a white Toyota Yaris. The crash resulted from the driver of the Toyota failing to yield the right of way.

Officer Green, with the San Angelo Police Department, said the driver of the white Toyota was heading across Pulliam and North Pope Streets, but failed to yield the right of way. As a result, the red minivan struck the Toyota on the left-hand side. Green added that the three children were passengers of Toyota, and multiple sources at the scene stated the children did not have seat belts on at the time.

The children sustained small abrasions and cuts. Officer Green said he would be checking with the hospital to find out if any injuries were life threatening.

Additionally, the driver of the Dodge minivan suffered light bruising on the arm from the contact of the air bag when it deployed, Green said.

Citations will be given to the driver of the white Toyota Yaris after further investigation.

While clearing the scene, SAPD officials closed one lane going onto Pulliam Street.
