41-Year-Old Man Dies in Chevy Versus 18-Wheeler Nolan County Crash

A 41-year-old Roscoe man died early Saturday morning after losing control of his vehicle and colliding with an 18-wheeler.

DPS officials said, at about 12:07 a.m., Eric Wayne Robinson was traveling eastbound on IH 20 in a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and went off the roadway while in a curve, and off of the north side of the roadway, striking a guardrail. Robinson’s vehicle came to rest in the inside lane of IH 20.

At the same time, Roman Luis Garcia, of Odessa and age unknown, was traveling eastbound in a 2004 Freightliner truck pulling a utility trailer in the inside lane when he struck Robinson’s Camaro into the median. Garcia’s truck caught fire and came to rest on the south shoulder.

Robinson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to Cate-Spencer Funeral Home.

Garcia, who was wearing a seatbelt, had no injuries listed on the report, DPS said.

The crash, which is still under investigation, occurred near MM 240 in Sweetwater, and road conditions were described as dry. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 miles per hour.
