82-Year-Old Man Driving Kawasaki Mule Dies in Coleman County Crash

 

COLEMAN COUNTY, TX - An 82-year-old Rockwood, Texas man driving a 2013 Kawasaki Mule died yesterday afternoon after being struck by a 2015 Nissan Altima on US 283, about .1 miles west of Rockwood in Coleman County.

DPS officials said, at around 2:45 p.m., the driver of the Altima, Carolyn Williams Chisholm, female, 70, of Abilene was traveling north on US 283. The driver of the Kawasaki, Charles Author Darden, was also traveling north on US 283 in the ditch. While attempting to cross the highway, Darden pulled out in front of the Altima and was struck.  

Darden was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was transported to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman. Chisholm was treated and released at the scene. Two passengers in her vehicle, George Walton Chisholm, 66, of Abilene, and Logan Chisholm Goff, 3, of Fredericksburg, were also treated and released at the scene.

DPS said Trooper Tyler Moses with DPS Coleman investigated the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
