Drivers Killed in Horrific Head-on Fiery 18-Wheeler Crash

 

KERMIT, TX – A fiery 18-wheeler  crash east of Kermit claimed the lives of two drivers early Saturday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, troopers were dispatched to State Highway 302 near Kermit at approximately 4:30 a.m.

When troopers arrived at the scene they located a major accident involving two tractor-trailers.

The preliminary investigation revealed 58-year-old Jose Alonso-Montelongo of Del Rio was traveling east on SH 302. The other driver, 68-year-old Gilberto Uresti of Horizon City, was traveling westbound.

The two 18-wheelers then crashed head-on in a construction zone. The impact caused both trucks to catch on fire.

Both Montelongo and Uresti were pronounced dead at the scene.
