Watch: Driver Extracted From Vehicle In Crash Near Elementary School

San Angelo, TX- Just after school let out, two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Alamito Street and Twin Mountain Drive –– a block away from Lamar Elementary. The crash left one person trapped inside the vehicle.

In a statement from Officer Welch with the San Angelo Police Department, he stated a black Chrysler 300 was driving westbound on Alamito Street when it was struck by a Toyota Sienna.

School was letting out from Lamar Elementary so there was a line of vehicles down Twin Mountain Drive. The driver of the black Chrysler 300 stopped at the intersection, but could not see the Toyota and pulled out in front of it. The impact of the crash pushed both vehicles into the ditch.

The driver of the black Chrysler was trapped with a child in the backseat. He had to be extracted from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital. The single driver in the Toyota was also transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The driver of the black Chrysler 300 will be cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign and for not having a driver's license.
