Eldorado Woman Killed After Crash on Icy Highway

ELDORADO, TX – A 45-year-old woman from Eldorado was killed last night after crashing on an icy Highway 277.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on Jan. 30, 2023 at around 9:40 p.m., troopers with the Texas DPS were dispatched to US 277, approximately 8 miles North of Eldorado, for the report of a major crash.

When they arrived, they discovered a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 that had struck a tree. Inside of the vehicle there was only one person. The driver has been identified as Sherry Lynn Taylor, 49, of Eldorado. She was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard on scene.

Preliminary investigation by the DPS shows the truck was traveling northbound on U.S. 277. Due to poor driving conditions, mainly icy roads, the driver lost control, entered a sides kid, and struck a tree.

With the continued icy conditions DPS is asking that drivers avoid the highway if possible.
