Pedestrian Struck & Killed on I-20 in Midland

MIDLAND, TX – The Midland Police Department on Tuesday confirmed the death of a Cedar Creek man  who was struck and killed while walking on I-20.

According to the Midland Police Department, on Feb. 7, 2023 at around 7:30 p.m., officers with the MPD were dispatched to the 1900 block of I-20 for the report of a major crash involving a pedestrian.

When the officers arrived, they discovered a white Ford F-150 parked on the side of the road with no signs of damage and running. Lying next to the truck was Lazaro Villafuerte Resendiz, 51, of Cedar Creek.

It is believed that Resendiz was struck by a vehicle while retrieving a block of wood from the road. The police did not mention if the driver was facing any charges.

Resendiz was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital. He died from his injuries later that night.
