DPS: Pedestrian Killed in Tanker Truck Accident

 

TOM GREEN COUNTY, TX — A fatal crash involving a tanker truck resulted in the death of a San Angelo man Wednesday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

This happened at 10:10 a.m. on May 22, 2024, near the 9500 block of South York Road in Tom Green County. 

According to information, a 2006 Mack tanker truck, driven by Cody Brazeal, 40, of San Angelo, was involved in the crash. Brazeal was not injured.

The pedestrian, identified as Robert Stevens, 63, of San Angelo, was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Susan Werner. Preliminary investigations indicate that Brazeal was performing work-related tasks when he inadvertently backed over Stevens.

The weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident. The Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Colton Wilson investigated the accident, with assistance from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and the Wall Volunteer Fire Department.
