Abilene Man Killed After Teen Driver Crosses Into Wrong Lane

 

CALLAHAN COUNTY, TX — A 44-year-old man from Abilene was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night after a pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic on FM 18 and struck his SUV head-on, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. on May 8 near milepost 424, about two miles west of FM 603. Troopers said a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 19-year-old Jason Riley Miller of Abilene, was traveling eastbound on FM 18 when it veered into the westbound lane and collided with a 2015 Jeep Cherokee.

The driver of the Jeep, Michael Adrian Lopez, 44, of Abilene, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Miller was transported to Hendrick North Hospital with minor injuries.

Road conditions were dry and the weather was clear at the time of the crash. The posted speed limit in the area is 65 mph.
