Traffic Completely Shut Down on Knickerbocker Overpass After Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX — A two-vehicle crash on Knickerbocker Road on Monday afternoon has shut down traffic in both directions.

The crash occurred at about 1:45 p.m. where Knickerbocker Road intersects with the Loop 306 east frontage road near the Texas Department of Transportation headquarters.

Police officers, State Troopers and fire department personnel were working the scene.

Traffic is currently being redirected onto the Loop 306 frontage roads until the Knickerbocker overpass is cleared.

According to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department, witnesses stated a white GMC Acadia disregarded a red light while traveling east on Knickerbocker and crashed into a black Mercedes crossing over from the frontage road.

The Acadia left the roadway and came to a stop on a grassy slope going down toward Loop 306.

A passenger in the Acadia was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
