UPDATE: Fort Stockton High School Senior Killed in Crash at I-10 Service Road Intersection

FORT STOCKTON, TX — A Fort Stockton High School senior died Monday following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the Interstate 10 Service Road and Northeast Rio Street, according to the Fort Stockton Police Department.

The crash occurred at about 4:40 p.m. and involved a 2024 Chevy Camaro and a 2017 Ford van. Police said preliminary findings indicate the Ford van was traveling east on the I-10 Service Road when the Camaro attempted a left turn from Rio Street onto the service road.

The student, identified as the driver of the Camaro, was transported to a nearby hospital, where they died from their injuries. Despite immediate rescue efforts, authorities said the injuries were fatal.

The driver of the Ford van sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

In response to the tragedy, Fort Stockton ISD has announced that crisis counselors, an animal therapy team, and spiritual support personnel will be on campus on Tuesday to assist grieving students and staff.
