2 Taken to Hospital After Car Crashes Through Firestone Building

SAN ANGELO, TX — At least two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a car crashed through the Firestone Complete Auto Care building at 2201 Knickerbocker Road.

The crash occurred about 2 p.m. when an elderly man lost control of his vehicle, apparently "spooked" by the auto start-stop feature, according to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department.

The vehicle left the parking lot at Wells Fargo, crossed over Industrial Avenue and then struck the Firestone building.

The man and his wife were stuck inside the vehicle after the crash before firemen were able to extract them from the vehicle.

They were then transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

No employees or customers inside the building were injured.

No citations will be issued, the officer stated.
