UPDATE: Crashes Involving 9 Vehicles Shut Down Houston Harte

SAN ANGELO, TX — A series of crashes involving nine vehicles shut down the Houston Harte Expressway on Friday morning.

The first crash, which was a two-vehicle collision, occurred about 8:05 a.m. near the intersection of Houston Harte and Howard Street.

That initial crash backed up traffic and likely contributed to an ensuing seven-vehicle crash, according to a traffic officer with the San Angelo Police Department.

Four people were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The officer stated it will be determined if citations need to be issued once the investigation is complete.

Traffic headed northeast was being redirected onto the Howard Street exit.
