EXPLOSION! Structure Fire Rocks South San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— A monster fire has erupted in San Angelo, and the San Angelo Police Department has asked everyone to avoid the area while first responders fight the blaze.

Around 9:45 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, San Angelo first responders were dispatched to the area of Ben Ficklin and West Avenue Q regarding a structure fire. On scene, reporters observed black and gray smoke billowing from a residence.

An explosion took place due to what was believed to be propane or gas tank, and scanner reports indicated that there could be people inside the residence.
