Cadillac Destroyed in Knickerbocker Road Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX — A two-vehicle collision at the busy intersection of Knickerbocker Road and Valleyview Boulevard disrupted traffic flow in southwest San Angelo on Saturday afternoon, February 28, 2026. The incident, which occurred just after 3 p.m., led to the complete shutdown of all southbound lanes on Knickerbocker Road, with authorities diverting traffic northbound onto Valleyview Boulevard to manage the congestion.

According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary reports from the scene, the crash involved a white Ford Bronco and a Cadillac Escalade EXT. One of those vehicles may have been attempting to enter the main roadway from Valleyview. The collision resulted in significant damage to both vehicles, though the Bronco was driven up on the wrecker flatbed. The Caddy sustained incapacitating damages.

Emergency responders, including San Angelo Police Department officers and medical personnel, arrived promptly. One individual was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, though the extent of their injuries remains unknown at this time. It's unclear which vehicle's occupant was transported, but authorities confirmed that the injured party was stable upon departure from the scene. No other serious injuries were reported among the drivers or any passengers.

Police on site issued multiple citations related to the incident, potentially including failure to yield or other traffic violations, though specific details on the charges have not been released. Investigators are working to determine the exact cause, with factors such as speed, visibility, or possible distractions under review. The driver of the Cadillac was noted as attempting to clear the roadway following the impact, but the severity of the crash required professional towing services to remove the vehicles.

Knickerbocker Road, a major artery connecting residential areas, shopping districts like four Stripes Convenience Stores, a Neighborhood Walmart, a popular pizza joint, and recreational spots near Lake Nasworthy, sees heavy weekend traffic, especially on afternoons like this one. The shutdown caused backups in both direction. Traffic was rerouted efficiently, but motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes.

This stretch of Knickerbocker has seen its share of accidents in recent years, often due to high volumes of turning vehicles at intersections like Valleyview. Local officials remind drivers to exercise caution when merging, obey traffic signals, and maintain safe following distances. The San Angelo Police Department emphasizes the importance of defensive driving, particularly on weekends when roads are busier with shoppers and families.

As of 4 p.m., crews were still clearing debris, and southbound lanes remained closed. Traffic flow is expected to resume normally within the next hour, but delays may persist.
