San Angelo Woman Dies in Highway Crash in Odessa

ODESSA, TX — A 49-year-old San Angelo woman died last Thursday evening after a semi-truck failed to yield the right of way at the intersection of State Highway 302 and West Yukon Road.

Kennedy Kimberly Kay was driving a 2024 Kia Sportage eastbound on SH 302 when a westbound 2004 Peterbilt tractor-trailer turned left onto West Yukon Road without yielding, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Kia struck the trailer being towed by the Peterbilt at about 8 p.m. on May 28. Kay sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

A preliminary investigation showed the Peterbilt approached the intersection and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, DPS reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
