SAN ANGELO, TX - A lawsuit over injuries from an October 2024 car crash in which one driver allegedly fled the scene without providing information is scheduled for a jury trial next month in Tom Green County Court at Law.
Brandy Limuel filed the suit against Patrick Ruiz and Tereso Martinez Perez, claiming damages exceeding $250,000 and demanding a jury trial.
According to the petition, on or about Oct. 20, 2024, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Limuel was driving a 2012 grey Ford Fusion westbound on FM 2105 through the intersection with Rust Road when a 1999 red Chevrolet Silverado was headed southbound on Rust Road. The Silverado, driven by Ruiz, Perez or someone they entrusted, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, causing a collision with Limuel’s vehicle. The driver then fled the scene without leaving information.
The petition states that as a direct and proximate result of the collision and the defendants’ negligence, Limuel suffered severe and disabling injuries that required medical treatment.
In a first amended answer filed Jan. 13, 2026, Ruiz generally denied all allegations. Ruiz asserts comparative causation, claims some or all injuries may stem from pre-existing or subsequent conditions, and requests limits on medical expense recovery and settlement credit under Texas law. Ruiz also demanded a jury trial.
The court has scheduled a jury trial for 9 a.m. July 30 before Judicial Officer Andrew Graves. A pre-trial hearing is set for 3 p.m. Aug. 20 before the same judicial officer. The court previously reset the case on March 12 to July 16 and again on July 16 to Aug. 20.
