SAN ANGELO, TX -- A San Angelo police officer was struck by another driver while responding to a separate crash this Friday morning.
It happened at about 8 a.m. at the intersection of South Bryant Boulevard and South Jackson Street.
Police said the officer was headed to a crash on Knickerbocker Road when he activated his lights and siren while attempting to enter South Jackson Street. However, this is when a driver was headed eastbound on South Jackson and collided with the officer.
The officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, the cops said. The other driver was cleared by medics; she was uninjured.
The driver did not immediately receive a citation. Police said the driver had a green light and reported hearing the lights and siren, but was unable to locate the officer in time before the collision ensued.
The crash is still under investigation.
This is two days after another officer was involved in a crash.
The previous incident occurred on Wednesday, August 19, at about 5 p.m., within the 2800 block of the Houston Harte Expressway. That's between Howard and Garfield Streets.
