SAN ANGELO, TX — A passenger car ran a red light and struck a commercial truck Wednesday at the intersection of East Sixth Street and Oakes Street, a police officer said.
The driver of the car, a black Lincoln sedan, will be cited for disregarding the red light, according to an officer with the San Angelo Police Department traffic unit.
Witnesses and the driver confirmed the vehicle had a red signal. The driver also said her brakes may have failed, which police listed as a possible contributing factor.
The tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on East Sixth Street around 11 a.m. The passenger car was traveling south on North Oakes Street when the collision occurred, the cop said.
The car’s driver complained of pain and was evaluated by medics at the scene but was released. No one was transported to a hospital, and there were no life-threatening injuries, the officer said.
The crash remains under investigation.
