Driver Hospitalized After Morning Crash on South Bryant

SAN ANGELO, TX — A driver was transported to the hospital with a possible broken arm after a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning, the police said.

It happened at the intersection of South Bryant Boulevard and Ben Ficklin Road shortly after 8 a.m.

According to the police, a southbound black Ford passenger car collided with a traffic signal pole after being struck by a northbound white Dodge pickup truck. The pickup was attempting a left turn at the time of the crash.

The Ford sustained heavy front-end damage from the pole impact. First responders used the jaws of life to extricate the driver from the vehicle as the door was unable to be opened.

The pickup also had significant front-end damage.

The Ford driver was taken to a hospital. The pickup driver remained on scene and did not appear injured. Both vehicles had one occupant.

The drivers gave conflicting statements about the traffic light. The Ford driver said the light had just turned yellow and was not red. The pickup driver said the light was green.

The crash remains under investigation. Officials said they plan to review possible dashcam footage from a witness to determine what occurred. No charges have been filed.
