A 16-Year-Old is Behind Bars After Shooting Another Teenager

On Jan. 8, 2016, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a gunshot victim who was at Shannon Medical Center Emergency Room. Upon arrival, the deputies met with San Angelo Police officers and learned the victim, a 14-year-old juvenile, had been shot by a 16-year-old juvenile of no relation, said Christina Lopez, public information officer for TGCSO.

According to Lopez, the shooting took place in the 11500 block of Midland St. in Carlsbad, Texas. While conducting their investigation, deputies learned the handgun used in the incident was located in a vehicle at the hospital. The handgun was recovered and placed into evidence.

Deputies also established that the handgun had been stolen earlier in the evening by the 16-year-old juvenile. The Tom Green County Criminal Investigation Division is conducting the investigation.

Today, additional information obtained during the course of the investigation was presented to the District Attorney’s Office by the CID and a verbal “pick up order” for the 16-year-old.

TGSO stated the juvenile has been taken into custody and is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is also being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
