A Garage Catches Fire, One Person Goes to Jail on Unrelated Charge

SAN ANGELO, TX - A garage caught fire this evening in the 600 block of Van Buren, and one person at the scene went to jail for an unrelated charge.

Joanna Jackson, a fire investigator with the Fire Marshal's Office, said San Angelo firefighters were dispatched to 621 Van Buren for the report of a fire. The blaze caught in the garage, not the house, she said.

"It's a total loss. The garage can't be saved," said Jackson.

There were no injuries, and based on what Jackson learned from the occupants of the house, the fire appears to be accidental; however, the investigation is still ongoing.

Additionally, one individual was arrested at the scene for possession of possibly narcotics. Jackson said she's not sure if that person is tied to the residence that caught fire or not.
