One Suspect Dead, Another in Custody After Shootout Leaves Deputies Wounded in Ector Co.

 

ODESSA, TX-- Three Deputies of the Ector County Sheriff's Office were shot while trying to serve a narcotics search warrant on Monday night.

The deputies were part of the SWAT team that was trying to serve a search warrant, when the suspects inside opened fire on the officers. According to CBS 7, a neighbor of the house said that they had heard over 50 gunshots.

Josh Pool, Cody Smith, and Ricky Rodriguez were apart of the team, and when they entered the room they were all three shot. Two in the leg, and one in the mouth; they were taken to Medical Center Hospital, but were released later that night.

One of the suspects inside of the home was shot and killed, the second suspect was arrested and charged with failure to identify with the possibility of more charges being added.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the case.
