Police Chase Ends in Crash at Funeral for Sheriff Who Died of COVID-19

 

TAHOKA, TX – The funeral for the Sheriff in Lynn County was interrupted Friday morning after a police chase ended in a crash.

According to Everything Lubbock, on July 17, troopers with the Department of Public Safety were dispatched to assist the Lamesa Police Department with a stolen vehicle chase. The chase began 30 miles south of Tahoka. 

Meanwhile in Tahoka, funeral services were prepared for the Sheriff Abraham Vega at the Tahoka High School football stadium. Sheriff Vega died on July 12 due to coronavirus related issues. Here is the story: Lynn County Sheriff Dies After Battling COVID-19

The police chase continued through town but came to a crashing end at the football stadium. The crash happened only 30 minutes prior to the funeral starting. 

Witnesses on scene claim the stolen vehicle crashed and that three people were arrested. 

It is unclear the identity of the individuals at this time. One suspect appeared to have been injured during the crash.
