Teen Suspect Arrested After Street Brawl Turns Violent

 

BROWNWOOD, TX — A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection to the shooting of another teen. 

According to KTXS, on Saturday evening officers were dispatched to Main Blvd. for reports of a large street fight. While officers were en route to the scene, dispatch received several calls for shots fired.

At the scene, officers found several people in the street, but the instigators had left the scene. Around the same time, Brownwood Regional Medical informed police a gunshot victim had been brought to the ER.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that several people drove to the house to confront people inside the home and a fight ensued.

During the fight, the suspect, identified as Joefty Ivan Rodriguez Lopez, got out of a vehicle and began to “randomly” shoot at people. One of the shots injured 18-year-old who had to be flown to Baylor-Scott and White in Temple. His condition was described as critical.

According to police, Rodriguez confessed to the shooting and is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

His bond was set at $50,000.
