Hijacking Suspect Dies After Being Shot

 

BENJAMIN, TX —The suspect involved in a violent carjacking on Thursday died after he was shot by a DPS trooper and the Knox County Sheriff.

The suspect, identified as Chase Rountree, shot at the driver of an 18-wheeler before he stole the vehicle with his female companion. Rountree was stopped a short time and shot by officers after he brandished the weapon and threatened them.

According to KTXS, Rountree was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon after he was flown to Lubbock University Medical Center.
