Teen Indicted for Crimes Against a Minor

SAN ANGELO, TX – A Tom Green County Grand Jury indicted 17-year-old Cameron James Simmons on multiple charges including Aggravated Kidnapping Bodily Injury / Sexual Abuse, Indecency With a Child Sexual Contact, and Indecency With a Child Exposes on July 8, after a witness discovered Simmons engaging in lewd acts with minor.

Indictment reports indicate that on the afternoon of May 25, 2020 Simmons was discovered with the victim behind a pump house by a witness who found the pair engaged in lewd acts and immediately questioned the two as to what they were doing behind the pump house.

According to the witness, the victim immediately made an outcry claiming Simmons was "doing inappropriate things" to her.

Simmons was apprehended by the Witness who escorted him to the front of the residence for further questioning.

When Simmons was questioned on his actions by the mother of the victim, he admitted he had been touching the victim inappropriately.

Authorities were contacted immediately and Simmons was arrested by deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office at approximately 10:31 p.m.

During an interview, Simmons stated he had taken the victim to the back of the property in order to attempt to touch the child salaciously, and even admitted that he attempted to pay the child with some money and a bribe of candy.

A forensic interview was conducted with the victim who claimed Simmons told her of a new way to walk to her grandmother's house before carrying her from the front yard to the bushy area behind the pump house.

The victim stated Simmons exposed himself to her and asked the child to play with him, but the child refused and wanted to leave.

Moments later the pair were discovered by the witness, and the authorities were contacted.

As previously reported, Simmons was arrested on scene and was then booked into the Tom Green County Jail on the sole charge of Indecency With a Child Sexual Contact carrying approximately $50,000.00 in bond.
