Border Patrol Seizes Nearly $5M Worth of Meth Headed for the U.S.

LA ROSITA, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents Tuesday stopped a large drug load from entering into the U.S.

Tuesday afternoon, agents working near La Rosita, Texas, observed several subjects load suspected bundles of narcotics into a vehicle parked near the Rio Grande. Agents responded to the area and located the vehicle which was abandoned in a nearby neighborhood. A search of the area resulted in the arrest of two subjects. Inside the vehicle, agents discovered several bundles of methamphetamine, weighing more than 150 pounds and worth an estimated $4.93M.

Border Patrol turned over the two subjects and narcotics to the Drug Enforcement Administration for prosecution.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.

Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation.  The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
