San Angelo Child Predator Caught in Online Sting

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was caught in an online operation attempting to meet a minor male for sex.

According to court documents, on September 30, an undercover agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety was running an operation to catch child predators online.

During the operation they were contacted by a man with a profile named "4353 feet away." The undercover agent told the suspect that he was a 15-year-old boy. That didn't put an end to "4353 feet away" messaging.

The man continued sending the undercover officer messages enticing the assumed child to have sexual contact with "4353 feet away." During the conversation he sent the undercover agent multiple inappropriate images online.

"4353 feet away" then proceeded to arrange a meeting with the agent. When DPS agents arrived at the location they found 27-year-old Zane Alexander Haby Brown. Brown admitted to being there to meet up with a 15-year-old boy. Brown claimed he planned to get picked up by the child to go get papers to smoke marijuana and lube to have sex.

He was then arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor and displaying harmful material to a minor. He remains in the Tom Green County Jail in lieu of a $40,000 bond.
