Father Arrested After Barricading Himself With Kids

 

ODESSA, TX -- The Odessa Police Department confirmed the arrest of a suspect after a standoff involving his children around 11:00 p.m.

According to OPD, officers responded to a call at the 1600 block of Petroleum. They had received reports of an individual firing a gun inside the home. Officers were advised children were inside.

Upon arriving at the scene, the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Robert Zamora, come out of the home with his children. He fired a shot at the ground and went back inside.

Despite the officers' attempts to communicate with Zamora he refused to comply and barricaded himself inside the house.

The S.W.A.T. team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene. Authorities also obtained a search warrant.

Around 4:00 a.m. this morning Zamora was arrested without incident and no one was injured.

Zamora was charged with Endangering a Child and was transported to the Ector County Detention Center.
