8-Year-Old Dead After Being Punished by Guardians

ODESSA, TX – An Odessa foster couple has been charged with the capital murder of their 8-year-old ward.

According to CBS7, on Oct. 12, Daniel Schwarz, 44, and Ashley Schwarz, 34, were both arrested and charged with Capital Murder.

The arrest comes after officers with the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to the 4300 block of Locust Avenue back on August 29 for the report of a child that was possibly dead.

When they arrived they confirmed the death of an 8-year-old girl in the backyard of the residence.

Investigators with the OPD determined that the girl died while being punished by her legal guardians.

Police claim that the girl died after she was not allowed to eat breakfast or drink water. Instead she was being punished and was forced to jump on a trampoline for hours.

Police on scene reported that on August 29 the trampoline had a temperature of 110 degrees and the ground had a temperature of 150 degrees.

An autopsy determined that the girl's death was homicide by dehydration.
