Student Arrested After Assaulting Classmate with Brass Knuckles

MIDLAND, TX – Midland ISD has confirmed that one teenage student was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he attacked another student with brass knuckles.

The assault allegedly involved two teens from Midland High, although the assault was not on MISD property when it took place. Members of the media spoke with the grandmother of the victim, identified as Margarita Vega, who says her grandson was attacked in an alley by the other student with brass knuckles on Tuesday afternoon.

“The injuries were done in the head and then on his arms,” said Vega. “I believe that’s what my daughter said because she had asked him what happened to your arm Angel, and he said he was covering his head.”

Vega also said the teen spent the remainder of Tuesday night in the hospital where he underwent medical evaluation, including X-rays and a CAT scan, before his release sometime Wednesday morning.

According to Vega the victim is currently at home recovering at this time.

According to MISD, the aggressor was arrested on campus at Midland High on Wednesday, where was immediately transported by authorities to the Barbara Culver Juvenile Center in Midland, TX.
