Suspect Steals Police Car and Crashes into 18-Wheeler

HASKELL,TX – A police chase ended with an unnamed suspect dead after he crashed a stolen police car into an 18-wheeler Monday.

The man drove off after a deputy made contact with him at a park in Haskell. Heading towards Weinert, the vehicle came to a stop after spike strips were used. Surrounded by law enforcement from both Haskell and Stamford, the man somehow managed to steal a Haskell police patrol car after being pepper sprayed.

He took off south on US 277 and officers shot at the vehicle and after about a two mile run, he ran head-on into an 18-wheeler.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Best case scenario. Criminal commits felony and dies in the process. No court costs, no incarceration expense. Just a new patrol car, since no other injuries were reported. I would, however, like to hear the details on how he managed to steal a cop car.
