Intoxicated Woman Indicted for Felony DWI with a Child in Her Car

SAN ANGELO, TX – A Tom Green County Grand Jury indicted a woman in January for driving while intoxicated with her two-year-old child in the back.

According to the court documents, on Nov. 9, an officer with the San Angelo Police Department was patrolling near the area of Pulliam and Irene when he spotted a vehicle that did not signal for a turn within 100 feet of a turn.

The officer initiated his lights and pulled the driver over. He learned that her identity was Priscilla Hernandez and that she had her two-year-old son in the car with her.

During the conversation, the officer smelled a strong scent of alcohol and noticed signs that Hernandez was intoxicated. After asking Hernandez if she had been drinking she told the officer that she had drank a dozen bottles of Bud Light.

Hernandez was given the opportunity to pass a field sobriety test but asked the officer to stop. According to the Peace Officer's Report, Hernandez asked to stop because she was to drunk to continue the test.

Hernandez was then arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under the Age of 15. She was arrested on Nov. 6 and was released two days later on a personal recognizance bond.

Hernandez was indicted for the charge on Jan. 7.
