Couple Shot While Fighting Off Familiar Burglar

ODESSA, TX – A man and a woman were shot Wednesday morning after fighting off a burglar that happened to be someone they knew.

According to CBS7, on Feb. 25 just before 4 a.m., officers with the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of Drury Ln. for the report of multiple shooting victims.

When they arrived the officers and paramedics found two victims had suffered gunshot wounds. The two were taken to Medical Center Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police at this time have no suspect in custody but the mother of the woman shot believes they all know who the shooter is.

“You are somebody’s son,” said the mother. “Just like my daughter is my daughter you are somebody’s son. So do the right thing and turn yourself in. We don’t need you hurting nobody else no more.”

The suspect is alleged to have broken into the home early this morning looking for money. When the couple saw the man they attempted to fight the burglar and where shot in the process.

The mother confirmed that the woman was shot in the head and in the leg. Luckily the bullet has been removed from her brain but there is a chance the woman may lose her leg. The man is in stable condition.
