Tiger and Bobcat Seized from Pot Smoking Suspect

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Bexar County Sheriff's Office seized two big cats at a residence in southeast San Antonio on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, on Mar. 16, deputies with the BCSO were alerted by San Antonio Animal Care Services that they received word of another possible big cat that was being illegally owned in San Antonio.

After weeks of investigating the BCSO served a search warrant on the 3100 block of Shane Road. Once inside deputies discovered a fully grown bobcat along with a 13-week-old tiger.

The SAACS was first alerted about the bobcat and got the BCSO involved. Once they arrived on scene they discovered the tiger.

One man has been arrested for multiple warrants as well as possession of marijuana. BCSO does not believe he is the owner of the cats but was just in possession of the animals. Although they are not his, he will still be charged with illegal possession of the cats.

This is the second tiger that has been found in San Antonio in the last month. Sheriff Salazar believes the two cases are related.
