Father Charged With Capital Murder After Infant Dies

 

BIG SPRING, TX -- A Big Sping father has been charged with capital murder after he allegedly killed his four-month-old baby.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, on Tuesday night officers were dispatched to the Scenic Mountain Medical Center for reports of an unattended death involving an infant.

At the scene, officers learned 22-year-old Jose Luis Varga Cruz had taken the baby to the hospital and told staff the baby fell off the bed. He claimed the baby sustained several head injuries as a result of the incident.

During the course of the investigation, Cruz was questioned by police and allegedly confessed to murdering the child.

The manner of the death has not been released at this time as the investigation continues.
