Abilene Woman Arrested for Aggravated Assault

 

TYE, TX – A 27-year-old woman is out on bail after police say she was involved in a shooting over the weekend.

According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred on April 18th around 3:15 a.m. 

When Tye Police officers arrived at 126 South Access Road, they located a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers administered first aid and at this time their condition is unknown.

After speaking with witnesses and investigating the incident, police identified 27-year-old Bakiya Smith as the suspect. Officers then obtained an arrest warrant for the Abilene native.

Smith would later self-surrender at the Taylor County Jail. She was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
