Austin's 6th St. Shooting Rampage: One Suspect in Custody

AUSTIN, TX – Governor Greg Abbott Saturday issued a statement following a shooting in downtown Austin:

"The Texas Department of Public Safety is working closely with Austin Police to respond to this shooting and ensure that the perpetrators are captured and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Thank you to APD and first responders for quickly responding to the scene and saving lives. Cecilia and I ask our fellow Texans to join us in prayer for those who were injured."

Law enforcement officials in Austin arrested one suspect in the mass shooting that took place in the Texas city's entertainment district early Saturday morning and injured at least 14 people.

A second suspect is still at large, the Austin Police Department confirmed Saturday afternoon.

Two of the victims are in critical condition, while the other 12 are stable, interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon said, adding that almost all of them were innocent bystanders.

The shooting early Saturday morning on 6th Street in downtown Austin took place during the Republic of Texas biker rally but it is unknown at this time if the two events are related.

Hey Yantis, why the need to mention the bike rally? You know how many other events were happening in Austin and it is unknown if they were related to the shooting. I ride a motorcycle and I cant see your reasoning. There is nothing on 6th St that would interest those types of Bikers.  Maybe you can explain to us.
