Drug Dealer Indicted for Manufacture and Delivery of Heroin

 

SAN ANGELO, TX- A San Angelo man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for the manufacture and delivery of controlled substances.

According to court documents, Edward Gonzales was seen traveling down South Bryant Boulevard on July 12, 2021, around 7:30 p.m. unable to maintain in a single lane. San Angelo police conducted a traffic stop on Ben Ficklin Road.

Gonzales was placed under arrest due to an active parole warrant.

While on scene, another officer observed an open alcohol container in the passenger area of the vehicle. A sergeant with the San Angelo Police Department conducted a search and found a plastic bag with 9 wrapped balls of a black tar substance near the center console.

A field test was done on the substance which tested negative for the presence of heroin. The weight of the substance and the bag was approximately 10.7 grams.

On July 14, 2021, another field test of the suspected heroin was performed which yielded positive results. Through these investigator’s training, 10 grams of heroin is far greater than the average user possesses. The average amount a user will have is about 1 or 2 “papers”, which is described as 1/10th of a gram. This amount Gonzales had was worth $2,500.00.

Due to the packaging and the total amount divided up into 9 different equal balls, the investigator believes the heroin Gonzales had was for sale or distribution.

Edward Gonzales was arrested on July 12th, 2021 and is currently an inmate in the TGCDF on $50,000.00 bond.
