San Angelo Man Gets Prison Time for Deviant Exposure

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday after he was found guilty of exposing himself to a preteen girl.

According to court documents, on Apr. 14, Alfredo Melendez, 56, of San Angelo, pleaded guilty to indecency with a child by exposure.

Deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office were first alerted to the crime on Apr. 30, 2021. The mother of the victim told deputies that on Jan. 13, 2021 Melendez had been staying with her family.

During the stay the man was caught coming out of the room of an 11-year-old at 4 a.m. The mother confronted the man claimed he went into the wrong bedroom.

The day before deputies were called, the incident was brought back up. On Apr. 29, 2021, Melendez was caught on camera in a child's room wearing the victim's clothes. The mother once again asked him what had happened on Jan. 13, 2021.

This time Melendez told the mother that he had been masturbating in the preteen's room.

Melendez was arrested for indecency with a child by exposure on Aug. 18, 2021. He was indicted on Nov. 4, 2021 and was offered a plea deal on Apr. 14. For the original story see: Disturbed San Angelo Man Indicted for Gratifying Himself in Front of a Sleeping Minor
