UPDATE: Gov. Abbott Confirms 14 Children, 1 Teacher Killed In Uvalde School Shooting

 

UVALDE- Two individuals are dead and 13 were sent to the hospital in a shooting that took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Earlier today, it was reported that one person had been shot and the shooter was taken into custody.

A statement from Uvalde Memorial Hospital says they have received 13 children via ambulance and or busses for treatment. Two children were taken to San Antonio for further care and one is pending transfer.

Uvalde Memorial also stated that two individuals arrived deceased and no further information has been released at this time. 

The shooting reported started off school grounds but the shooter ran to the school to barricade himself and was taken into custody about an hour later. A business owner told a radio station that he saws the shooter exchange gun fire with law enforcement including Boarder Patrol.

UPDATE (4:00 P.M.)- Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said "14 children and 1 teacher have been killed. The shooter, Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old Uvalde High School, is also dead. Abbott said he believes the responding officers killed him. Law enforcement was on the lookout for Ramos' vehicle after he was accused of murdering his grandmother.
