SAN ANGELO, TX — In the 100 block of N. Malone St., San Angelo police have surrounded a residence with long guns drawn. The entire 100 block of N. Malone was blocked off as of 10 p.m.

Over the radio, dispatch told police responding that there was an assailant with a crow bar and a firearm. Police were seen searching for someone shortly after our reporter arrived. Now, it appears police have surrounded a house. Prior to that, we heard that police pursued a suspect in a truck driving down Buchanan.

The 100 block of N. Malone is between Preusser and Koberlin on San Angelo's east side.

Update at 10:50 p.m.

Police told us at the scene there is an active investigation ongoing involving an aggravated assault.

“No one was gravely injured,” Lt. Craig Thomason said. Thomason is commanding the scene.

He said they have called in the Criminal Investigations Division, or CID, to the scene to gather evidence.

Long guns were drawn for the safety of the officers, he said.

“There could have been suspects in the residence, we didn’t know,” Thomason said.

Police indicated the scene was under control and before our reporter departed, police were wrapping up.
